Meet Our Neighbors: The Brother’s Pizza
Positioned directly next to the Rincón Beer Company is my pueblo favorite, long established, hole-in-the-wall pizza place, Brother’s Pizza. In the last few years, I’ve spent countless afternoons and evenings loitering the booths of Brother’s pizza sharing an ice cold Medalla con mis amigos, along with the way-too-often slice of pepperoni. Aaaand since they open at 4am to start whipping up food for the day, there might have been the occasional pre-dawn visit as well. Just maybe. 😉
While the new york style pizza and puertorricano frituras at Brother’s Pizza are good, what I really go for is the people, the atmosphere and the employees. The family that runs the place is always ready with a welcoming smile and a friendly greeting as you enter and the local patrons littering the tables do as well. As you sit to eat, anyone who passes by will throw out a “Buen Provecho”, encouraging you to enjoy your meal, a regular custom here in Puerto Rico that melts my heart. Likely not to be found at the top of any food or travel magazine’s recommendations, Brother’s Pizza makes my list of places in Rincon to visit for a causal evening, a slice and a chance to meet some fabulous local characters.
Two of the cute pizza boys! See what I mean? Who can resist that service? 😉
PS – it’s rich but if you eat meat and fried things, make sure you try one of their rellenos – deep fried mashed potato balls filled with seasoned ground beef. SO EFFING GOOD.
