Aloha Sushi
Pizza RollA: We have been doing an awful lot of eating out lately, but at least we finally got a sushi fix.
T: Yes, and it has been quite some time since we had sushi. Wow, it’s been a long time. When was the last time we ate sushi?
A: I think when we went to long beach to see laurie and john. we ate that crappy sushi. ew.
T: oh, yeah… I didn’t count that 🙂
A: hehehe probably a good thing you didn’t. Tonight’s sushi was significantly better. Although we only ate off the happy hour menu (which means we went the low-end route).
Fried Calamari with Chili Sauce
T: yeah, it wasn’t amazing sushi. Still good though. My favorite by far was the baked mussels (see picture). I love those things.
A: I definately agree. I really enjoyed the hand rolls, too. Even if it is shredded up cheap scallops in a spicy sauce. They were damn tasty.
T: Yeah, they were. Those were the first hand rolls I had ever had, and I enjoyed their size and the fact that they had the seaweed on the outside.
A: mmm… seaweed. YUM. I know i love seaweed when i’m eating it, but i find it quite annoying when we’re playing in the ocean and i get mounds of seaweed collecting around my legs.
T: Yes. That’s not the best place for seaweed. Particularly when I think it is some other kind of sea creature attacking me.
A: heheh i know, the imagination is a powerful thing. Back to sushi, sometime we’re going to have to suck it up and go for real sushi (and pay real sushi prices).
T: That’s true. I don’t mind shelling out some doe for some good sushi. We need to make sure we’re getting some good stuff, though. If anybody can tell us where in San Diego has awesome sushi, please tell us. 🙂
Baked Mussels>
A sushi place that my family and I enjoy is California Sushi in downtown Chula Vista. Even my very picky vegitarian in-laws liked it. They put a hometown twist on some of their rolls, i.e. adding cilantro, a mandatory Mexican herb, to various rolls. They have nightly specials as well. Tuesday nights are our favorite, $1 per piece night. It’s good stuff Maynard!
Kick arse! we will definately make our way down to chula vista to check this out. (probably on a tuesday, seeing as how broke we are!) If picky vegitarians like it it has to be pretty damn good. Thanks for the suggestion!
