"The fabulous gift of Omaha Steaks!......It was a funny gift actually. My uncle Johnny, in his bachelor days, was known to stop by the grocery store on the way to the family christmas party, and buy everybody a steak. Whatever the butcher had. It was not the most planned out thing, but it did the job. After years of being made fun of, he has redeemed himself! We received a big box of Omaha steaks and fish in the mail about a week ago."

t - Don't you hope uncle Johnny "pulls" your name next Christmas!!! Maybe your dad can "rig" it.

Okay, so maybe it was more like backstage passes for Loverboy, not Foreigner, or slightly Aldo Nova, or seeing Krull at the opening party, a great film no matter what anyone says!!!!

first i need to hop really quick to bobby! hell yeah! that rocks. you certainly didn't need them for a lousy resume addition. i can definately imagine how utterly elated you must be! shit, i'm utterly elated for you. RC really sounded like it would suck...pumping out the same uncreative thing day after day after day with no change in the menu. the catering thing with this woman is definately where it's at. hehehe now about feeling like you've got backstage passes at a Foreigner concert... uh. yeah. :-P

Ros, i think you are right on the money with that. seriously, liquor and heavy cream certainly can't make anything bad! not to mention the bacon i forgot about until i went to look at my ingredients list when writing the recipe! bacon and sherry and cream... oh MY!

aria, some times a steak is necessary... we don't eat em much but when we do... mmm mmmm mmmm. there's no way you can get chris to even taste mushrooms? not even with cream and bacon and sherry? what a silly stubbon boy!

thanks nicole! sometimes simple is all i've got! (unfortunately) i can actually understand both you and tyler's eggplant thing. the only thing my dad ever made that i disliked when i was growing up was this reeeeaaaally mushy eggplant lasagna dish. i simply refused to eat it! but later on, when i started cooking myself and working in restaurants my taste buds decided it wasn't half bad ;-) good even.

thanks sara! i really swim through sherry vinegar. i think it's really great to deglaze pretty much anything with and makes an awesome vinaigrette. mmmmmm. now the actual sherry on the other hand, just kind of chills in the cupboard wish i would dust it off more frequently and splash it in to more of my dishes. unfortunately my real love is for the vinegar... :-)

michelle! i cringed at the thought of brussels sprouts in alcohol and cream! i don't know why. i'm sure it could be good, but for some reason the thought of it game me a case of the nasties. :-) i'm going to figure out a way to cook brussels sprouts in a purely vegetarian style that you won't be able to resist! okay. at least i'm gonna try!

FF, thanks for chiming in! you know, i would never consider the laxative nature of eating soooo many artichokes. i imagine it's all that fiber goodness. ;-) Before you wrote your message i had already gone out and bought 7 artichokes. (which tyler told me would certainly not be enough!) and just so you don't feel too "dated" by the price of those artichokes you guys got in college, mine for 99 cents each! i love living in california!

Hi A&T, that meal looks amazing! Great picture. I am popping on to warn you about artichokes in large quantities. My roommate (freshman year) bought 10 for dollar each, yep I am ancient. Let me tell you they are the best laxative in the world so take it slow. We ended up in the health services center. Enjoy, though, FF!

Okay, upon Ros's recommendation, Amanda, if you cook me up some sprouts in alcohol and heavy cream, I'm willing to give them another shot.

That looks great - I don't own any sherry or sherry vinegar, but they're both on my list of ingredients to try.

Amazing photograph Tyler! And Amanda, as usual, the recipes are great!! I happen to really like simple food so keep these dishes coming! As for eggplant...I hated it until I moved to Sicily and now I can't get enough!! The eggplant dishes here are sooooo good! I've never been a big mushroom eater but like Tyler I've been forcing myself to eat them since I've been here and they've grown on me! I think I could totally eat them on that steak :-)
