Ho! Ho! Ho! . . . Merry Christmas!

Christmas dinner of champions

For a delightful and exciting christmas dinner, i’m indulging in a package of lime chili shrimp ramen noodles, filled to the brim with refined flour, dried spices, and lots of sodium! Let us not forget my festive accompaniment to this festive dinner: Natural Light! the watery beer of champions!

A:What’s a girl to do when she’s left all alone for the holidays in a state where she’s got no friends and family around? Eat ramen noodles! that’s what! While you can’t really blame me for not cooking an extravagant dinner for just myself, although i suppose you could blame me for sinking down to the ramen noodle level of food… but, eh? if it’s in there, it’s fair game! i hope all of you have an extremely awesome holiday! (and don’t worry! tyler will be back soon and i promise not to post anything else like ramen noodles ever again!…. hmm… welllllll… maybe not ever! :-D)

awwe Amanda you should at least be eating chinese dumplings!! I’m typing this instead of being social at my brother-in-law’s family’s christmas party. there are screaming kids, it’s cold, windy, and I don’t really know anybody here. more people just showed up. wanna trade places? 🙂

Add some of the left over chicken Thai soup, if you have any. Cook your ramen noodles in it. Is it just me or does ramen seem like it should have 2 e’s in it, rameen? Ramen just seems misspelled, uh, who knows, but it cold give you something to keep busy at work or over the Christmas Holiday. It may be nice to walk around if its overcast like here and look around, since its sooooo quiet, plus with the grey blusterry weather. If only there was the smoke of a taosty or toasty fire lingering about. Okay, too much Holiday O/T for me.

Did you have to work Christmas eve and/or Christmas day?

    Merry Christmas Amanda, And Pepita!

Merry Christmas Amanda! I must say the Natural Light is a nice touch! This is my first Christmas alone and although I had some friends over today, it’s just not the same without my husband and/or the rest of my family! Although I did fix more than ramen today, I had a hard time motivating myself to do much more than heat up a pre-cooked, pre-sliced ham. I STILL haven’t done any holiday baking. Usually I love Christmas but I’m kind of glad that this one is over.

    Merry Christmas!
Get rid of the Natty Light, go with some Keystone Light!

    Just Kidding.

t-diggs, i would love to trade with you! at least there would be food other than ramen 😉 i could do with out the awkward small talk with strangers though! (was the lovely lady who suggested you were moving to ca last year because …well, you know who i’m talking about, there? :-P)

bobby, sadly the thai soup was eaten long ago. 🙁 i could have made a grilled cheese or something, but i just didn’t feel like it. i left work at like 7:40am christmas eve, was back at work at 3pm (same day) and worked until 7:30am xmas day. it was swell. at least i didn’t come home smelling like steak though, as i imagine you might have from all of your holiday o/t! 😀 for some reason i tend to think of ramen as being an english word very removed from all things asian so the spelling works for me, if i actually associated the word with real asian food i would run with rameen…I hope you and mme feather had a wonderful christmas (without too much family cheer – i know how you love dealing with all that bs!) btw, i never did start up the kraut 🙁 i suck.

Thanks Nicole! i keep telling you how much i struggle with the layout of photos and all the stuff in the background! i finally nailed it! 😛 i definately know what you mean. there’s something about not being around loved ones for the holidays that makes me just wish they would get the show on the road. at least i had work to fill my time! (back at work now actually!) maybe you can bake some just-for-the-heck-of-it cookies so i can have a good drool-fest over on Pinch My Salt!

But Zach! the natty was the absolute cheapest beer they had at the store by out apartment! keystones for the rich! 😉 just kidding! (seriously) Merry Christmas!!!

okay guys, this is sad. i just posted that last message and scrolled to the top of the page, and the freaking ramen noodles actually looked really tasty to me and made me want some! HELP!!!! something is terribly wrong with me!

Chili Lime Shrimp looks luxe to me! 🙂

I love ramen noodles with edamame, peas and corn. The trick is, just cook it and let it sit on the stove for about 5 minutes while the noodles soak up some of the flavor and then pour the rest of the liquid out so you don’t get all of the salt. Deeeelish!

Merry Christmas, even if it’s late! And don’t forget, I had to deal with the in-laws family cheer, too!

  9. Kat says:

Merry Christas to you as well! Ramen’s not so bad…at least you weren’t left feeling bloated and uncomfortable.

  10. Ros says:

Slightly belated Merry Xmas to you too Amanda. Sorry to hear you were on your own…although a house full of unknown family with screaming kids would probably have been worse. I think those ramen noodles look pretty tasty too… oh no I think I’m getting one of my carb cravings!

  11. Trent says:

Sorry to hear about your carbs `n’ work holiday.

  12. Katie says:

ah, the christmas dinner of champions. i had grilled cheese, so don’t feel too bad. missed ya this holiday season a-dog.

  13. JD says:

Ramen rocks. What do you mean no friends from this state? I thought I was your friend “MANDY?” I think I am getting my butt kick for this again.

    Cue Frenchie style accordion music-

Hmmm… there is just something about ramen noodles that brings me back to my childhood of summers left alone to fend for myself….

sort of like Jacques Pepin and his mou a vin rouge… just not as romantic…. hehehe…
