Le Freak by Green Flash Brewery
Here at What We’re Eating, we love our beer. In fact, we love beer so much that we’ve decided to start doing full-on reviews on some of the libations we’re currently enjoying. So, let the bubbles start flowing and lets get hoppin’! 😉
The Beer
Le Freak
Brewed by Green Flash Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
9.2% alcohol
Style: Imperial Pale Ale & Belgian Tripel
Our Take
If you like light, mild flavored beers Le Freak is definitely not for you. This full-flavored, high alcohol content ale is brewed as a fusion of San Diego Style imperial pale ale and Belgian Tripel. When sipping this beer you first taste the yeasty sweet, but not overly sugary, effervecence of a Tripel with hints of orange, then the sip finishes with a relatively smooth yet definitively hoppy flavor with hints of grapefruit typical of an IPA. Green Flash truly succeeded in producing a beer that had all of the elements of both of these two styles. Definitely one to revisit. Rating: 4.3/5
